Former Arizona Cardinals safety Kwamie Lassiter has died of a heart attack at 49, according to the team.
Lassiter played college ball at the University of Kansas, and made his NFL debut in 1995, eventually making his way into the starting lineup in Arizona, “grabbing eight interceptions in 1998 — including his huge performance against he Chargers in the final game. Those four picks helped the Cardinals to a dramatic 16-13 win at home at Sun Devil Stadium to propel the Cards into the playoffs for the first time since moving to Arizona.”
Lassiter was later named an alternate to the Pro Bowl in 2001. In 2003 he played for the San Diego Chargers and in 2004, he finished his career with the St. Louis Rams.
