Southwest Airlines founder Herb Kelleher has reportedly died at the age of 87.
The announcement was made via an internal message to Southwest employees. Kelleher resigned from the board of directors and stepped down as chairman in May of 2008, but remained a full-time employee for five years after.
Kelleher was also appointed as Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas board of directors in 2010, serving until his term expired in 2013.
