“Dr. Hook” Singer Dies

Roy Sawyer, the “eye-patch wearing singer with the Dr. Hook & The Medicine show in the 1970s,” has died at 81.

Sawyer joined the group in 1969, two years after he lost an eye in a car accident. The group is best known for the song “When You’re in Love with a Beautiful Woman.”

His distinctive look, with an eye-patch and cowboy hat, made him “the most easily recognized” band member, according to BBC.
