A 4-year-old boy was shot in North Avondale, Ohio, on Friday afternoon, according to Cincinnati Police. Police say the toddler was shot with a family member’s unsecured weapon. Investigators said the boy was in an apartment with his dad, another child, and a few other family members. Tyrekis Mitchem, 20, has been charged with child endangerment. His relationship with the child is not known at this time.
Police said the boy suffered one gunshot wound to the chest. Cincinnati Fire Department transported the hospital where he was in critical, but stable condition. Mitchem will be in court for arraignment Saturday.
