An explosion has been reported at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana.
At least two people are reportedly being given medical treatment, including one with severe burns. There is reportedly heavy interior damage in the stairwell of the school and there is visible smoke rising up from the building.
The explosion may have originated inside a mechanical room in the northwest section of the school. A ladder crew is working to battle a small fire on the roof of the building. Officials have confirmed that the two injuries are not students, but instead were a school employee, as well as a contractor working on a heater.
Just heard from the Carmel Fire Department who said the explosion at Carmel High School was we caused by maintenance to a heater. A Carmel employee and contractor were the two people hurt.
