New York State Senator Kevin Parker has issued an apology after he told a woman to kill herself on Twitter.
Parker, who represents the 21st District in New York, made the statement after Candice Giove after she accused him of a parking violation by misusing his parking placard. She accused him in a reply to a picture of a car blocking a bike lane. The vehicle had a placard for Senator Parker, but was not a vehicle registered to him.
After she noted this and made reference to Parker directly, he responded to the tweet, telling her to “Kill yourself!” He deleted the tweet and apologized shortly after, saying, “I sincerely apologize. I used a poor choice of words. Suicide is a serious thing and and should not be made light of.”
