A man has been arrested in Washington, D.C., has been arrested after worried relatives contacted police about comments he had made about the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
Jeffrey R. Clark Jr., 30, is charged with illegally possessing a firearm and a high-capacity magazine. Clark Jr. had reportedly had several outburst saying that the victims of the Pittsburgh shooting “deserved it” as well as other anti-Jew and black sentiments. The outbursts reportedly came after his brother’s suicide, worrying family members that Clark may hurt himself or others.
Relatives told police both brothers had been involved in alt-right movements, according to court records. Clark reportedly also told FBI agents he and his brother became interested in guns in 2016 “because they believed there was going to be a civil war.”
Regarding the attack on the synagogue, court papers said Jeffrey Clark posted a picture of the suspected gunman spattered in what appeared to be blood, writing, “This was a dry run for things to come.”
