Three kids and two adults were hit by a vehicle at a school bus stop Thursday morning in Tampa. All five people were transported to the hospital, one child is in critical condition, according to a Tampa Police Department spokesperson.
The crash happened around 8:10 a.m. Parents were waiting for the school bus with their kids when they were hit by a car driving at a high rate of speed. Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan described the scene as chaotic. When emergency crews arrived there were injured people with shoes and backpacks scattered around. Dugan estimated the children are between 6 and 12 years old.
He said the driver remained at the scene after hitting the children. He is being detained by police.
