BREAKING: Earthquake Strikes off Coast of Japan

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake has struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan, according to seismology officials. No damage or injuries have been reported, and there is no risk of a tsunami.

The earthquake struck at about 3:36 a.m. local time on Friday morning about 77 km E of Sendai-shi, Japan, and about 38 km E of Ishinomaki, Japan, EMSC reports.The earthquake reportedly had a depth of about 50 km.

According to the USGS PAGER service, there is a 34% chance of fatalities resulting from the earthquake.
