“Up-and-coming” Baltimore rapper Nick Breed was reportedly fatally shot on Sunday, family members said today.
Breed was found with gunshot wounds Sunday evening, according to his family. He was transported to a nearby trauma center, but was pronounced dead soon after arriving.
Breed, whose real name was Dominic Gantt, was considered to be a rising star in the Baltimore area who often spoke out against gun violence in the city, along with several other issues. His online music videos had garnered thousands of views, and featured several collaborations with other rappers.
“That’s all he wanted to do,” his sister said. “He just wanted to bring it back to the city and help the city. He wanted kids to know that you can still be something.”
