CDC Warns People Not to Dress up Chickens for Halloween

The CDC is asking all pet chicken owners to avoid dressing up or handling their chickens for Halloween due to the recent salmonella outbreak.

They warn that the coming into contact with the chickens could prompt further spread of the disease. By dressing them up, officials say they raise the risk of coming into contact with the salmonella bacteria. At least 21 people have been hospitalized by the outbreak.

The agency also warns, “Don’t kiss your birds or snuggle them and then touch your face or mouth.”
