BREAKING: New Case of Mad Cow Disease Confirmed

A case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), or mad cow disease, had been discovered on a farm in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.  A quarantine area has been put in place around the farm while inspectors try to identify the origin of the disease. The government said the case posed no harm to humans.

BSE has been linked to the brain-wasting Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans, which is transmitted by eating contaminated meat from affected cattle.
