Minnesota Republican Senate candidate Karin Housley criticized Michelle Obama’s posture during her visit with the Queen of England, comparing her posture to that of the chimp from the movie “Bedtime for Bonzo.”
In a 2009 Facebook post, Housley compared the two, saying,
“Michelle is soooo far from cool,” Housley wrote in the post. “Don’t we expect our First Ladies to at least stand up straight? (And my dear sister, know the proper etiquette and DO NOT TOUCH THE QUEEN!).”
“I do miss Nancy Reagan. Ronald even more,” Housley continued. “Speaking of Bedtime for Bonzo, I think even that chimp stood up straighter than Michelle. Uh-oh, someone is going to make a comment.”
Housley’s campaign spokesperson has stated that reports of the post are “out of context” and used to “manufacture outrage.” Her Democrat opposition for Minnesota Senator, Keith Ellison, is currently embroiled in a controversy after claims of domestic abuse made by a former girlfriend.
