“Jefferson Airplane” Co-Founder Dies

Jefferson Airplane co-founder and guitarist Marty Balin has died at the age of 76.

The death was confirmed by Balin’s representative, but the cause of death is unknown. Balin helped to create the popular San Francisco-based psychedelic rock band in 1965, helping to make their popular albums in the 1960s.

He left the group in 1968, getting briefly pulled back in after Jefferson Starship had split off of the group. He also returned for their reunion tour in 1989.
