Prominent Putin Critic Released from Jail, Then Immediately Rearrested

One of Vladimir Putin’s most prominent critics, Alexey Navalny, was released from jail in Russia Monday, but was then immediately rearrested.

Navalny was met by officers as soon as he stepped out of the detention center and accused of organizing an unauthorized protest, which is also what he had just been in jail for. He was immediately taken to a police station and formally charged.

Navalny has repeatedly been arrested for organizing protests that call out the Russian President for a lack of political freedom and for corruption.
