Dallas Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers was arrested Friday night in Frisco, Texas, for marijuana possession. Less than 24 hours before the team makes its final roster cuts, 247 Sports reported. Gathers was arrested about 10 p.m., according to Frisco public information officer James Willis.
Frisco police officers were in the area and smelled marijuana coming from a parked car, Willis said. He found Gathers to be in possession of fewer than 2 ounces of marijuana. Gathers spent Friday night in jail before bonding out Saturday morning. The Cowboys have until 3 p.m. Saturday to make their roster cuts from 90 to 53 players, and Gathers was in a position to make the final roster for the first time in his three seasons with the club.
