Longtime Lynyrd Skynyrd Member Dies

Longtime Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King has died at the age of 68 after a battle with cancer.

King played guitar on some of the band’s most famous songs, including “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Saturday Night Special.” King left the band 2 years before a plane crash killed singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines.

He rejoined 10 years later when Van Zant’s brother began doing vocals for the band.King stayed with the band until 1996 until he retired again due to heart problems.
