1:00 a.m. ET: Police confirm they have no evidence of a gunman.

12:43 a.m. ET: California State University Bakersfield has sent out a notice to students regarding the incident at Mercy Southwest Hospital.

12:31 a.m. ET: The bomb squad has reportedly just arrived on the scene, according to KBAK-TV.

12:23 a.m. ET: “Several hospital janitors told Eyewitness News that they got a hospital alert that there was an active shooter, but they didn’t personally hear or see anything,” Bakersfield Now reports.

12:13 a.m. ET: Police are reportedly conducting room-to-room searches of the hospital, according to KGET-TV. Patients are visitors are reportedly barricaded inside of rooms. NO CONFIRMATION OF SHOOTING.

12:09 a.m. ET: Cause of the police presence has NOT been confirmed by police at this point.
