Mall Security Guard Leaves Toddler in Hot Car

A shopping mall security guard worked his shift at a while he left a 2-year-old boy inside a hot car, according to police. Kaliym Rodriguez, 26, of Roosevelt, New York, is charged with “reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.”

Police received a 911 call on Sunday around 11:30 a.m. saying that a child was left in a car on the second level parking lot by Macy’s in the Roosevelt Field Mall in East Garden City, N.Y.

Nassau County police found the child in the car and described his condition as “sweating profusely and was hot to the touch.” Police got in through an open window After getting in through an open window. “The boy began to cry and was placed in an air-conditioned police vehicle until an ambulance arrived.”  It is unknown how long the boy was left alone in the heat.
