A couple from Thelma, Kentucky, have been arrested and charged with kidnapping, drug possession, and cited for ownership of an illegal pet squirrel.
Timothy Moore, 57, and Virginia Shepherd, 47, reportedly had two minors inside their homes when their parents tried to come to pick them up. Moore and Shepard would not allow them or police to enter the home at first. However, after talking to the two, they convinced them to open the door.
Inside, police found the children, as well as marijuana, pills in improper containers, a plate with a white powdery substance in plain view, and several hydrocodone tablets hidden in a towel in the bathroom. Also inside was a squirrel that the couple said they kept as a pet. They were cited for this after their arrest.
The charges that the two now face are: kidnapping a minor, endangering the welfare of a minor, wanton endangerment 2nd degree, custodial interference, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct 2nd degree, menacing, prescription of a controlled substance not in a proper container — 1st offense, possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree, possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, possession of marijuana, and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia.
