Saudi Arabia has banned a group of video games after allegations that two children killed themselves while playing the online game “Blue Whale.”
“Grand Theft Auto V,” “Assassin’s Creed 2” and “The Witcher” are among 47 games being outlawed by the Saudi General Commission for Audio-Visual Media for unspecified violations of rules and regulations.
The ban was in response to the deaths of a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy. They reportedly killed themselves after playing the “Blue Whale: social media game. They did not say what the connection was. Also known as the Blue Whale Challenge, participants are given a series of tasks to complete, ending with killing themselves.
