A pharmacist in Germany has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for diluting cancer drugs to finance his luxury lifestyle.
The Essen regional court said the defendant, only known as Peter S., had diluted at least 14,000 drugs. The crimes took place between 2012 and 2016. Prosecutors accused the 48-year-old man of harming at least 27 patients. It is estimated that the number of patients harmed is far higher.
The defendant allegedly received more than $58 million and used the money to build a “villa with a large water slide.” He was arrested in 2016 after pharmacy staff turned him in.
