A college student was allegedly mocked for having a stutter while buying coffee at a Starbucks store in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The man, who has only been identified as Sam, stuttered his name when ordering his drink at a Starbucks store on June 27.
He claims the barista mockingly said “Okay, S-s-s-sam” and when he received his order, he noticed it was labeled “SSSAM.” Sam complained and the man received an apology and was offered a $5 refund.
A Starbucks spokesperson said, “We are taking this incident seriously, and we have begun a full investigation. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any kind of discrimination…We want everyone who comes to our stores to feel valued and to have a positive experience.”
