Sheriff Fires Deputy who Defeated him in Reelection Bid

South Dakota Sheriff Lenny Gramkow reportedly fired deputy Mark Maggs after Maggs defeated him in his reelection attempt.

Maggs says that he received an official termination letter shortly after the polls closed. No reason was given for the firing, but since South Dakota is a right-to-work state, employers are allowed to fire employees without just cause.
