One student shot another in the ankle Friday morning at Forest High School in Ocala, Florida. The shooter is in custody. The injured student is being taken to a local hospital. As of 9 a.m., the school was on lockdown.
Many parents were outside the school Friday morning awaiting word. Among them was Charles Dorrity, whose 17-year-old daughter is a student. She rode the bus to school Friday. Dorrity was going to Dunkin’ Donuts near the Forest campus when he saw multiple police vehicles heading to the school. He stopped to see what was happening.
He texted his daughter but, as of 9:05 a.m. had not heard back from her.
