Chelsea legend Roy Bentley, the last surviving member of England’s 1950 World Cup team, has died at the age of 93.

Bentley played striker for Chelsea, captaining the team to their first top-flight title in 1955. He was also part of England National Team, debuting in 1949.

Bentley also served in World War II in the Royal Navy, before beginning his soccer career. Chelsea describes the man as a “legend in the truest sense of the word.”
