A 30-year-old mother has been arrested over the deaths of her newborn twins.  They were found unresponsive in their West Melbourne, Florida, home on Sunday. Rachael Lynn Thomas is facing charges of child neglect and evidence tampering.

The mother called 911 on Sunday at around noon to report that the infants, a boy and a girl, were unresponsive. Thomas was arrested on Monday. One of the babies was dead when police arrived at the house on Sunday and the other was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. The cause of their deaths is not known.

Neighbors did not know they had even been born. They said Thomas lived in the home with two older children and her mother. Investigators from the West Melbourne Police Department have only revealed that they died in suspicious circumstances. They are thought to have been born in the home not long before their deaths. Thomas is being held in the Brevard County Jail on a $30,000 bond.

Neighbors told Florida Today that she was quiet and kept to herself.
