Starbucks coffee in California will now have to have a cancer warning, according to decision laid down by a Los Angeles judge.

A small non-profit organization filed a suit, claiming that Starbucks and many other coffee providers needed to label that their coffee contained a possible carcinogen, acrylamide. This chemical is found in high levels in brewed coffee.

The suit also calls for a $2,500 per person payment by Starbucks to anyone that may have come into contact with the chemical at their stores since 2002. This decision, which will come in the third stage of the trial, could end up being a massive result, with a population of nearly 40 million people in California.
