Best-selling author Anita Shreve has died at the age of 71 at her home in New Hampshire.

Shreve was in a battle with cancer, which she had announced last year, that had prevented her from touring to promote her newest book. In her career, Shreve wrote best-sellers such as “The Pilot’s Wife,” which was featured on Oprah’s book club in 1999 and turned into a movie later on. She also wrote “Resistance” and “The Weight of Water,” which were also adapted into movies.
