A 20-year-old mother was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after her two children were found dead inside their car seats, officials said.
The bodies were found outside the family’s home in Superior, Arizona.
Autopsies are being conducted to determine the causes of death of the 2-year-old boy and his 10-month-old sister. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately disclose what evidence had been found, but said in a statement that it “indicated foul play.”
Police identified their mother as Brittany Velasquez.
Authorities went to crime scene late Monday night and family members were inside the home. They were not able to provide information about the of how the children were placed or left in the car or a motive for their killings.
Velasquez is being held on a $2 million bond. Her next court date is April 30.
