A Romanian court has rejected a man’s claim that he is alive after his wife had him registered as dead years ago.
Constantin Reliu, 63, returned to Romania from Turkey after working as a cook for years. He then found out, upon arriving, that he was registered as dead inside of the country. After a long process of questioning and various tests, officials decided that he was in fact the same man. However, Thursday a court decided to not overturn his death certificate, saying that he filed the request “too late.”
Reliu is now in a legal battle to clear his name and to allow him to live his life. His wife now lives in Italy, and he does not know if she has been remarried or what she is doing.
