DEVELOPING: Rhode Island Town Seeking $1 for Increased School Budget

The town of Tiverton, Rhode Island, has asked residents to approve a $1 for an increased school budget.

The interesting request results from a $800,000 increase in the school budget, of which about $340,000 will come from state aide, and the rest from the reserve funds. The town would then be on the hook for $1, the minimum amount required by the state.

A town referendum will be held on May 19th where voters will be allowed to vote on the issue.
