Olivia Cole, best known for her Emmy Award winning performance in Roots, has died at the age of 75 in her home in Mexico.
Cole also appeared in Backstairs at the White House as well as The Women of Brewster Place. Additionally, she appeared in the Oscar winning film Coming Home. She was born in Memphis, then moving to Harlem with her parents. She attended Hunter College High School, Bard College in New York and then the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
She was also married actor Richard Venture, who died last month, but were divorced. She leaves behind no known survivors. (source) 3:32 p.m. ET January 24, 2018
