An improvised explosive device has been detonated in a corridor of Eagle Ridge Mall in Lake Wales, Florida, according to local media.
The device was located along with a backpack with other devices in it. Nobody was injured in the explosion, but there was damage to ceilings and walls within the mall.
The mall was evacuated and a criminal investigation is underway, according to the Daily Ridge.
UPDATE: According to police, “a middle-aged white male with a heavy/stocky build has been labeled a “person of interest” in this case. He was wearing a gray shirt and a gray hat before the explosion.” (9:00 p.m. ET)
Police are now saying that two pipe bombs were detonated at the mall, and that police are “inspecting another suspicious device that was left near the mall’s movie theater.” (10:30 p.m. ET)
