64 migrants are presumed dead after their boat, a small rubber dinghy, sank off the coast of Libya.
It is believed that there were 150 people on the boat at the time of the sinking. 86 people were rescued, and 8 bodies were recovered. The other 56 migrants are missing and presumed dead. The Italian Coast Guard announced that they had rescued the 86 people, but declined to say how many people were still missing. (source) 1:05 p.m. ET January 8, 2018
