A strong magnitude-5.5 earthquake has struck on the Myanmar-India border region, with an epicenter 82 km E of Yaripok, India, and 329 km N of Mandalay, Myanmar. The earthquake was originally a magnitude-6.1 but has been downgraded.
The earthquake is said to have struck at a depth of 40 km and struck at approximately 1:47 a.m. ET.
According to preliminary witness reports, many who felt it experienced “very strong” shaking. (source)
