UPDATE:

The coast guard says they were notified after Air Traffic Controllers reported an unresponsive pilot. The plane is a small plane, although it is not clear how many, other than the pilot, are onboard.

“The pilot and the Cirrus S22T was last observed on radar about 219 miles northwest of Cancun at 15,000 feet, and was heading into the Gulf of Mexico.” (source)
The plane can seat 5, but there has been no indication that anyone else was on the plane. It is now believed by officials that the incident was a medical issue.
