At least 5 are dead and multiple more are injured in Northern California after a series of shootings in the rural community of Rancho Tehama Reserve. The shooter is among the dead counted at this time. The shootings took place in and around an elementary school in the area, and Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston says that they are investigating at least 7 crime scenes. The incident allegedly started at a home in the community, and then spread to the school. A man spoke with KCRA Affiliate Action News Now, saying that his truck was stolen by the suspect and his roommate was shot and killed. Witnesses say that there may have been two gunman at the school. Coy Ferreira was dropping off his daughter at the school when he says he heard what sounded like a firecracker. A school secretary then came out telling children to get into the classrooms because someone was shooting at the school. He then rushed into a room with 14 children and a series of shots came through the window, hitting a young boy. Ferreira says that he saw two gunmen, seeing one of them, a man in his 30’s or 40’s, running away from the scene. Undersheriff Johnston says that they recovered a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns from the scene. The suspect was reportedly choosing random targets. (source) 2:29 p.m. ET November 14, 2017
