ESPN reports that Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell has been arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona, for assault with a deadly weapon.

Maxwell, who was the first MLB player to kneel during the National Anthem, was arrested after a female food delivery employee alleges he pointed a gun at her.

“We were disappointed to learn of the allegations,” the A’s said in a statement on Sunday. “We take this situation and ongoing investigation seriously. We are gathering information from the proper authorities and do not have further comment at this time.”
