JAPAN (ALBOENEWS) — A large volcano in southwestern Japan has erupted, according to the Associated Press.
The Shinmoedake volcano has begun to erupt for the first time in six years, and video shows school children going to school wearing hard hats and masks.
According to the AP, “a plume rose 1,700 meters (5,600 feet) from the crater and ash fell in at least four cities and towns in Miyazaki prefecture Thursday.”
