DEVELOPING: New Report Finds Major Increases in Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis in 2016

ATLANTA (ALBOENEWS) — According to a report released by the CDC, 2016 turned out to be a major year for sexually transmitted diseases.

Over 2 million cases in the U.S. were reported in 2016, showing noticeable increases in reported cases of each of the three diseases. The rate of Gonorrhea increased 18.5%, Syphilis 27.6%, Congenital Syphilis 27.6%, and Chlamydia 4.7%.

The increases are notable, as in years prior, there had been less reported cases that ever before in human history.
