SACRAMENTO (ALBOENEWS) — The State of California is suing Gatorade over a 2012 ad-campaign that they say violated California law.
TMZ reports that the suit revolves around a 2012 app that was released by Gatorade that depicted Usain Bolt running along, collecting Gatorade, and evading the “enemy of performance,” water. The law in questions states that ads cannot offer misleading messages to consumers, which the State Attorney says this app clearly did.
If found to have violated the law, Gatorade will be required to desist their campaign, and pay a hefty fine.
The app has since been pulled from the App Store.
