#BREAKING: Richard Trumka Resigns from Presidential Council on Manufacturing

WASHINGTON D.C. (ALBOENEWS) — Richard Trumka announced his and Thea Lee’s resignation from the Presidential Council on Manufacturing Tuesday, citing President Donald Trump’s comments on the incident in Charlottesville, Virginia, earlier in the week.

In a statement, Trumka announced that they are resigning from the council because, “We cannot sit on a council for a President who tolerates bigotry and domestic terrorism. President Trump’s remarks today repudiate his forced remarks yesterday about the KKK and neo-nazis. We must resign on behalf of America’s working people, who reject all notions of legitimacy of these bigoted groups.”

Trumka went on to criticize the council as ineffective and failing working people. Richard Trumka is the AFL-CIO President, and Thea Lee is the deputy chief of staff for the same organization. The full statement is below:
