Developing: Arizona Woman who left Baby Girl Alone in the Desert gets 20-Year Sentence

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (ALBOENEWS)—Monday afternoon, a woman who pushed her 17-month year old daughter out into the deserts of the largest American Indian Reservation, the Navajo Nation, in her stroller to die was sentenced to 20 years in prison. It was maximum sentence available alongside the plea deal that was reached.

In his decision, U.S. District Judge David Campbell had scathing words for Ashley Denise Attson, calling the act an “intentional, cold-hearted, horrendous killing of an innocent child.” According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Arizona, she left her daughter in the desert for several days before retrieving the body and burying her in an animal hole.

Attson pleaded guilty to the accusation stemming from the 2016 death of the child.
